Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel

Join Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel - Earn valuable points, which are redeemable for electronics, household items, jewelry, toy, gift cards, and more.

I've been a member of this panel for quite awhile! They send you a scanner and you scan your purchases and upload them to your computer. So easy! And they offer great prizes!

Check Your Receipts...

...but not just for pricing mistakes. Many receipts have coupons or surveys on the bottom. I'm not talking about the receipts that offer a sweepstakes entry or a chance to win $$, but the ones that offer you a freebie for completing a simple survey.

Take the survey and get a code for something free. The surveys are very quick and painless! Some are online and others are done by phone. Here are some that I've received:

Albertsons - Free French Bread
Sonic - Free Route 44 soda (Thanks Angie!)
Wingers - Free Asphalt Pie
PetSmart - $2 off coupon
PetCo - $ off coupon

UPDATES (Thanks Steph!)
Arby's - Free Beef & Cheddar or Regular Roast Beef
Burger King - Free Whopper w/ purchase of fries and drink

Let me know of any other stores that do this and I will add them to the list!

Bzz

I've told you about Bzz before. It's a word of mouth marketing agency. I get free products to try out, then I share my opinions with others and report back to Bzz.

Yesterday, I got 4 coupons for free entrees at Chili's! This is the second time that I've received Chili's free coupons. I've received free Max Factor makeup, Smuckers Uncrustables, Claritin, Oust, and Listering Whitening Strips, to name a few.

They email you Bzz opportunities (called campaigns) and you sign up if you are interested. Easy as that.

If you are interested, sign up here.

PineCone Research

PineCone Research is a survey company that only allows members to join by special invitation. This is one of the top companies to do surveys for. I just got an email saying, "We are offering select members the opportunity to recommend membership to a friend or relative who is NOT a member of their household." If any of you are interested and you would like me to forward the email to you, leave a comment with your email address (I won't make it public) and I'll send it to you.

$5 Bonuses for Survey Sign Ups

Send Earnings, Inbox Dollars and Snap Dollars all have a $5 sign up bonus going on right now. If you haven't signed up yet, here's your chance!

How to Earn Money from Paid Surveys

If you're looking to earn a little extra cash from home, you may be interested in participating in paid surveys. Like I said before, you are not going to get rich doing these, but you can make a little extra money.

I have been reading blogs about people who do these surveys regularly and they make anywhere from $25 - $1000/month! I’d love to be the one that makes $1000/month!! I’ve been doing surveys off and on for a couple of years, but I’ve never been serious about it. So I’ve signed up for a few more companies and I’m on a mission! I’ve set a goal for myself of $100/month.

Once again, most of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection. Or you can email me directly at centsofsavings@gmail.com.

Here are some tips:

1. Sign up for a separate email account just for surveys. Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail all offer free and easy email set up.

2. Download the free version of Roboform. Roboform automatically fills in forms for you with the click of your mouse, saving you lots of time and headache. This is a must! I love this program!!

3. Never join a survey site that asks for payment. All of the sites listed below are ones I belong to myself.

4. Sign up for as many companies as you can. The more companies you're signed up with, the more survey invitations you'll receive and the more money you'll earn. You won't get survey opportunities from each one every day. Don't be disappointed if you don't receive many survey invitations from one company. Survey invitations are based on certain demographics, and if you're not a good fit, you won't get invitations. Some companies work really well for one person and not for another.

5. Fill out as much profile information as possible. You will be more likely to receive survey invitations.

6. Pay attention to the incentive. Usually when you receive a survey invitation, you will be told what the incentive is - a certain dollar amount, a sweepstakes drawing, points, etc. I never bother taking surveys when they are for a sweepstakes - I don't feel that it is worth my time.

7. Don't be afraid of sites that offer points rather than cash. You can bank up your points and redeem them for prizes, gift cards, and/or cash.

8. Evaluate how much your time is worth. Don't feel like you have to take every single survey you're invited to take.

Here are the survey companies that I use (in no particular order):

How to make a little extra money

Being a stay-at-home mom, I’m always looking for ways to make a little extra money. Here are a few things that I’ve found that are easy to do and can be done from the comfort of your home. I’m not talking thousands of dollars, but every little bit helps!

Some of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection.

I am putting together a separate post on "How to earn money doing paid surveys".

Rebates – Rebates do take some time and effort, but I love to see those checks come in the mail. If you’ve gone to the trouble of sending it in, don’t forget to deposit the check – usually you only have 90 days to cash. Walgreens and Rite Aid rebates are so easy to do! I’ve blogged about these here. Here are some places I've found rebates:
*hangtags in the aisles at the store
*on the product package
*in the coupon inserts on Sunday
*on manufacturers' websites as downloadable forms

Ebates – I blogged about Ebates awhile back. Here’s the direct link to my post. Basically, you shop through them and earn a percentage back on your purchases (in cash). If you sign up through me, we both get $5.

Mr. Rebates – Just like Ebates, but they are competing sites and sometimes one will offer a better deal than the other. So it really does pay to shop both and compare promotions.

Swagbucks
– I just joined Swagbucks a few days ago. Swagbucks is a search engine that gives you results to your web searches from reliable sources like Google and Ask.com. I earn points as I search the internet. I have made Swagbucks my home page, so I always start there with a search. Plus you can download the toolbar and search from there. When you sign up, you'll earn 3 points automatically. When you reach 45 points, you'll earn an Amazon gift card. Once you sign up, you can refer others and win points when they do. My goal is enough for a Wiifit!!

My Points – I get points for opening and clicking on links in emails that they send. If I choose to participate in the offer included in the email, I will receive more points. If not, I still receive 5 or 10 points just for reading the email and clicking on the link. Points accumulate easily and can be redeemed for gift cards, etc. If you are interested in joining My Points, send me an email because I can invite 5 people each month to join. I also print coupons and earn points for printing them (coupons are through coupons.com).

Upromise – With Upromise, you get money from your everyday spending deposited into a 529 account to pay for college expenses. I figure it's never too early to plan for college for my girls. "Every time you make an eligible purchase, our partners return a portion of that money back to you. Those earnings accumulate in your Upromise account until you decide to use it to invest in a 529 plan, help pay down eligible student loans or assist with college expenses—all tax-free!" Here's a link that explains how this works. From now until 1/31/09, for each friend that activates a Upromise account, both you and that friend will receive a $10 Restaurant.com gift certificate. So if you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a referral.

Affiliates – I just learned about affiliate links. These are those links that are on blogs that advertise or that you can print coupons through. Each time you click on one of those ad or sidebars, you help support that blog. If you have a blog and are interested in these, let me know and I can direct you to where I found my information. I haven’t made any money on these, nor do I expect to. I don’t want my blog to be about me making money, but about me being able to help others save theirs.
