Coupons.com End of the Month

Have you been to Coupons.com lately? If not, you should go today or tomorrow! Every month the coupons ‘reset’ – meaning some disappear, and some get new printing limits. So going today and tomorrow and printing last minute coupons is a good thing! You can print out those Q’s you’ve been meaning to print but keep forgetting before they disappear. And if that favorite coupon print limit resets, you’ll be able to print two more next week. Meaning, instead of 2 prints per computer, you’ll have 4! So take some time today, head over and print out those Q’s!!

Thanks to LittleMissKnowItAll for the reminder!!!

How to Earn Money from Paid Surveys

If you're looking to earn a little extra cash from home, you may be interested in participating in paid surveys. Like I said before, you are not going to get rich doing these, but you can make a little extra money.

I have been reading blogs about people who do these surveys regularly and they make anywhere from $25 - $1000/month! I’d love to be the one that makes $1000/month!! I’ve been doing surveys off and on for a couple of years, but I’ve never been serious about it. So I’ve signed up for a few more companies and I’m on a mission! I’ve set a goal for myself of $100/month.

Once again, most of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection. Or you can email me directly at centsofsavings@gmail.com.

Here are some tips:

1. Sign up for a separate email account just for surveys. Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail all offer free and easy email set up.

2. Download the free version of Roboform. Roboform automatically fills in forms for you with the click of your mouse, saving you lots of time and headache. This is a must! I love this program!!

3. Never join a survey site that asks for payment. All of the sites listed below are ones I belong to myself.

4. Sign up for as many companies as you can. The more companies you're signed up with, the more survey invitations you'll receive and the more money you'll earn. You won't get survey opportunities from each one every day. Don't be disappointed if you don't receive many survey invitations from one company. Survey invitations are based on certain demographics, and if you're not a good fit, you won't get invitations. Some companies work really well for one person and not for another.

5. Fill out as much profile information as possible. You will be more likely to receive survey invitations.

6. Pay attention to the incentive. Usually when you receive a survey invitation, you will be told what the incentive is - a certain dollar amount, a sweepstakes drawing, points, etc. I never bother taking surveys when they are for a sweepstakes - I don't feel that it is worth my time.

7. Don't be afraid of sites that offer points rather than cash. You can bank up your points and redeem them for prizes, gift cards, and/or cash.

8. Evaluate how much your time is worth. Don't feel like you have to take every single survey you're invited to take.

Here are the survey companies that I use (in no particular order):

How to make a little extra money

Being a stay-at-home mom, I’m always looking for ways to make a little extra money. Here are a few things that I’ve found that are easy to do and can be done from the comfort of your home. I’m not talking thousands of dollars, but every little bit helps!

Some of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection.

I am putting together a separate post on "How to earn money doing paid surveys".

Rebates – Rebates do take some time and effort, but I love to see those checks come in the mail. If you’ve gone to the trouble of sending it in, don’t forget to deposit the check – usually you only have 90 days to cash. Walgreens and Rite Aid rebates are so easy to do! I’ve blogged about these here. Here are some places I've found rebates:
*hangtags in the aisles at the store
*on the product package
*in the coupon inserts on Sunday
*on manufacturers' websites as downloadable forms

Ebates – I blogged about Ebates awhile back. Here’s the direct link to my post. Basically, you shop through them and earn a percentage back on your purchases (in cash). If you sign up through me, we both get $5.

Mr. Rebates – Just like Ebates, but they are competing sites and sometimes one will offer a better deal than the other. So it really does pay to shop both and compare promotions.

Swagbucks
– I just joined Swagbucks a few days ago. Swagbucks is a search engine that gives you results to your web searches from reliable sources like Google and Ask.com. I earn points as I search the internet. I have made Swagbucks my home page, so I always start there with a search. Plus you can download the toolbar and search from there. When you sign up, you'll earn 3 points automatically. When you reach 45 points, you'll earn an Amazon gift card. Once you sign up, you can refer others and win points when they do. My goal is enough for a Wiifit!!

My Points – I get points for opening and clicking on links in emails that they send. If I choose to participate in the offer included in the email, I will receive more points. If not, I still receive 5 or 10 points just for reading the email and clicking on the link. Points accumulate easily and can be redeemed for gift cards, etc. If you are interested in joining My Points, send me an email because I can invite 5 people each month to join. I also print coupons and earn points for printing them (coupons are through coupons.com).

Upromise – With Upromise, you get money from your everyday spending deposited into a 529 account to pay for college expenses. I figure it's never too early to plan for college for my girls. "Every time you make an eligible purchase, our partners return a portion of that money back to you. Those earnings accumulate in your Upromise account until you decide to use it to invest in a 529 plan, help pay down eligible student loans or assist with college expenses—all tax-free!" Here's a link that explains how this works. From now until 1/31/09, for each friend that activates a Upromise account, both you and that friend will receive a $10 Restaurant.com gift certificate. So if you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a referral.

Affiliates – I just learned about affiliate links. These are those links that are on blogs that advertise or that you can print coupons through. Each time you click on one of those ad or sidebars, you help support that blog. If you have a blog and are interested in these, let me know and I can direct you to where I found my information. I haven’t made any money on these, nor do I expect to. I don’t want my blog to be about me making money, but about me being able to help others save theirs.

The Beer Aisle

I know most of you don't venture down the alcohol aisle at your grocery store, but if you dare, there are many coupons and rebates that are put out by the beer manufacturers that can be redeemed WITHOUT buying any alcohol. Especially with the Super Bowl coming up, they are putting out the coupons! I've seen rebates for health club memberships, televisions, bottled water, deli products, bbq grills, etc. Sometimes they are just laying on the boxes of beer or they are attached to the top of the refrigerator area. So check it out next time you are there.

Kmart Double Coupons up to $3 1/18/09 - 1/24/09

Here we go again. This time they are doubling up to $3 in some areas (which is awesome!!) Unfortunately, I'm not in one of those areas... But my area is doubling up to $2, which is definitely worth a trip!

Post your deals when you find them!

Smiths Fast Fixin' Chicken FREE

UPDATE: The printable coupon is for 20 oz or larger and the chicken that's on sale is smaller. I pointed it out to my checker because that's when I noticed, and he said if they go through then he could take them. They went through just fine, so he took them. So YMMV on this one. Sorry for any inconvenience...

Check the beer aisle, there are some reported $1 off any size MFQs hanging out there.

Smith's (Kroger) has Fast Fixin' Chicken on sale this week 10/$10 (you don't have to buy 10 to get the deal). Click here to print out 5 $1 off coupons, making the chicken free. After you print, it allows you to forward this coupon along to others. I have my husband print coupons at work also... Just an idea. :-)

JoAnn Fabric

"I went to JoAnn's today and they have a ton of stuff on sale. I bought a generic Boppy nursing pillow half off for 9.99 and then a plush velour cover on sale for only 6.50 (they have many colors to choose from.) That combo together at Target is at least 34.99+ and I got it all for 16.50. Also, all of the flannel baby fabrics are half off, as well as their Calico cotton collection that is quite popular. You don't need any coupons, but if you get their mailer there's a 40% off plus a 50% off that you can use now, and two 50% off coupons for later in the month. They had lots of other fabrics on sale too, but I can't remember what they were since I went in for mainly baby stuff. It's a great week at JoAnn's!"

Thanks Angie!!

Great Sites for Buying, Selling or Getting Things for Free

Thought I'd start some posts about some other ways that I save money and try to make a little on the side. I'll start with some great sites to buy, sell or get things for free.

Craigslist – Craigslist is free classifieds. You can sell or buy on it for FREE!! No service fees, purchasing fees, listing fees, shipping charges, etc (you get the idea). It’s broken down by where you live, so you buy and sell locally. I use this a lot more than I use eBay (and I used to be an eBay fanatic).

Freecycle – Freecycle is a great way to get and give away free stuff. You can sign up for individual emails or a daily digest of things that people are giving away. You can also post things that you are looking for. This is how we got our purebred chocolate lab last month. I’ve also gotten furniture, coupons, and many other random things. Remember that your junk is another's treasure. (If you've ever had a yard sale, then you know that this is SO true...)

Etsy – Etsy is a place to buy and sell home-made goods. I have quite a few friends who sell things here. It’s fun to search through the site and a great way to support many stay-at-home moms!

Albertsons Tips

For all of you stocking up on diapers (and everything else)... If they don't have the size that you want, get whatever size they have because then you can exchange them later when they have the size that you need. Just keep your receipt.

Also, you can ask your store to special order for you. Not sure if they would get it in before the catalina deal ends, but it's FYI for future deals.

Welcome Newbies!

For those of you who are new here, I'd like to welcome you and help you get started. If you look on the left hand side of the blog, there is a sidebar titled "Labels". Read the "How To"s.

Also familiarize yourself with the "Coupon Lingo" because I will use that a lot in my posts.

I tend to post the "great deals", not just the "okay deals". There are many sites where you can get the information for all the deals. Some are located on the right sidebar. So if there is a deal listed on my blog, then you know it's a pretty darn good one!

When I link to a printable coupon, the coupon is still available when I post. But most companies only allow so many people to print, then they remove the coupon. Some last a few days, others are there for months. If you find that a coupon is not available for printing anymore, let me know and I will remove the link.

Please don't hesitate to post questions and I will try to help all that I can!

Plus I'm always looking for deals to post! Send them my way and I will post them and, of course, give you the credit!

More Great Tips for Getting Started

Savings Makes Cents has some great tips for getting started with coupons!

Don't forget that you can get all of the updates from my blog delivered right to your email. Just sign up in the box labeled "Subscribe to Emails" on the right sidebar. You will get a daily email with all of the posts from that day. If I don't post anything that day, no email!

You can also become a "Follower". This is also over on the right sidebar, below the coupons.
What is Following?
Do you have a favorite blog and want to let the author and readers know that you are a fan? Well now you can do that and more with the Blogger Following feature! You can even keep track of the blogs you follow via your Reading List on the Blogger dashboard.

Printable Coupons on my Sidebar

I have just added a sidebar on the right side of my blog that has the coupons from Coupons.com. Every time that you print coupons from this coupon printer, you help support this site, which is greatly appreciated. If you have already printed a coupon, you will not see it in the list.
