Cash Back Rebate Shopping

Just thought I'd update my list of cash back rebate shopping sites. You should definitely take advantage of these sites if you shop online at all. They give you 1% to 30% cash back just by shopping through their portal.

Instant Cash Bonus Referral

Ebates - Refer here to previous post.

Mr. Rebates - Refer here to previous post.

Shopathome - Similar to the others, but they are competing sites and sometimes one will offer a better deal than the other. So it really does pay to shop both and compare promotions. $5 bonus for signing up. $20 balance to cash out.

Cashbaq - Just like the others. $5 bonus for new members. $10 minimum to cash out.

Extrabux - Ditto. $10 for payout.

QuickRewards - Place one shopping order, or if you’re short on cash, complete one survey on the site, and they’ll give you a bonus $3 to your account.

% Cash Back Referral

BabyMint - Helps save for your families education. Complete the online membership application (Referral Code 4982783). 1 BabyMint Buck = $1.

BigCrumbs - Great for those that shop on Ebay since you get high cash back.

$25 Bonus from ING Direct

Here's another "free money" deal. I will never post a deal on here that isn't legit or that I haven't done myself. And this one is super easy to do! I did it a couple of days ago and my $25 bonus is there, as well as my $25 deposit. Quick and easy. I'm going to open one of these for each of my girls also.

Through 2/28/09, if you open an online Orange Savings Account through ING DIRECT and use the Reference Code D293P when opening your account you start off with a balance of $25!

Here's how to do it:

1 - Click here to open an Orange Savings Account with ING DIRECT (backed by the FDIC) It is a high interest savings in which you will currently make 2.20%.

2 - Click "Open Now" on 2 pages. The second page will give all of the details of the promotion. Read them!

3 - Fill out information and use code "D293P" in the reference code box.

4 - Transfer money from your current checking account. (There is no minimum to get the $25 bonus. I put in $25 and it worked.)

5 - After you are done setting things up, use your customer number to log in to your account. You will see your opening balance of $25. That's your bonus!

According to Surviving The Stores: I talked with ING DIRECT today and they said that the money had to remain in the account for 30 days and then the $25 will become available to withdraw (it shows that it's in there, it's just not available for 30 days).

2 - Click Yes or No depending on if you have an existing account or not.

5 - Go to Build My Account Over Time.

6 - Create your Own Automatic Investment Plan on the next page.

7 - Choose a stock to invest $1 in.

How to Earn Money from Paid Surveys

If you're looking to earn a little extra cash from home, you may be interested in participating in paid surveys. Like I said before, you are not going to get rich doing these, but you can make a little extra money.

I have been reading blogs about people who do these surveys regularly and they make anywhere from $25 - $1000/month! I’d love to be the one that makes $1000/month!! I’ve been doing surveys off and on for a couple of years, but I’ve never been serious about it. So I’ve signed up for a few more companies and I’m on a mission! I’ve set a goal for myself of $100/month.

Once again, most of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection. Or you can email me directly at centsofsavings@gmail.com.

Here are some tips:

1. Sign up for a separate email account just for surveys. Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail all offer free and easy email set up.

2. Download the free version of Roboform. Roboform automatically fills in forms for you with the click of your mouse, saving you lots of time and headache. This is a must! I love this program!!

3. Never join a survey site that asks for payment. All of the sites listed below are ones I belong to myself.

4. Sign up for as many companies as you can. The more companies you're signed up with, the more survey invitations you'll receive and the more money you'll earn. You won't get survey opportunities from each one every day. Don't be disappointed if you don't receive many survey invitations from one company. Survey invitations are based on certain demographics, and if you're not a good fit, you won't get invitations. Some companies work really well for one person and not for another.

5. Fill out as much profile information as possible. You will be more likely to receive survey invitations.

6. Pay attention to the incentive. Usually when you receive a survey invitation, you will be told what the incentive is - a certain dollar amount, a sweepstakes drawing, points, etc. I never bother taking surveys when they are for a sweepstakes - I don't feel that it is worth my time.

7. Don't be afraid of sites that offer points rather than cash. You can bank up your points and redeem them for prizes, gift cards, and/or cash.

8. Evaluate how much your time is worth. Don't feel like you have to take every single survey you're invited to take.

Here are the survey companies that I use (in no particular order):

How to make a little extra money

Being a stay-at-home mom, I’m always looking for ways to make a little extra money. Here are a few things that I’ve found that are easy to do and can be done from the comfort of your home. I’m not talking thousands of dollars, but every little bit helps!

Some of these have referral options available. Please know that I am not writing about these for the referrals! These are legitimate ways that I make money. If you do want a referral, leave a comment with your email and what program you want. I will not post any comments with email addresses for privacy protection.

I am putting together a separate post on "How to earn money doing paid surveys".

Rebates – Rebates do take some time and effort, but I love to see those checks come in the mail. If you’ve gone to the trouble of sending it in, don’t forget to deposit the check – usually you only have 90 days to cash. Walgreens and Rite Aid rebates are so easy to do! I’ve blogged about these here. Here are some places I've found rebates:
*hangtags in the aisles at the store
*on the product package
*in the coupon inserts on Sunday
*on manufacturers' websites as downloadable forms

Ebates – I blogged about Ebates awhile back. Here’s the direct link to my post. Basically, you shop through them and earn a percentage back on your purchases (in cash). If you sign up through me, we both get $5.

Mr. Rebates – Just like Ebates, but they are competing sites and sometimes one will offer a better deal than the other. So it really does pay to shop both and compare promotions.

Swagbucks
– I just joined Swagbucks a few days ago. Swagbucks is a search engine that gives you results to your web searches from reliable sources like Google and Ask.com. I earn points as I search the internet. I have made Swagbucks my home page, so I always start there with a search. Plus you can download the toolbar and search from there. When you sign up, you'll earn 3 points automatically. When you reach 45 points, you'll earn an Amazon gift card. Once you sign up, you can refer others and win points when they do. My goal is enough for a Wiifit!!

My Points – I get points for opening and clicking on links in emails that they send. If I choose to participate in the offer included in the email, I will receive more points. If not, I still receive 5 or 10 points just for reading the email and clicking on the link. Points accumulate easily and can be redeemed for gift cards, etc. If you are interested in joining My Points, send me an email because I can invite 5 people each month to join. I also print coupons and earn points for printing them (coupons are through coupons.com).

Upromise – With Upromise, you get money from your everyday spending deposited into a 529 account to pay for college expenses. I figure it's never too early to plan for college for my girls. "Every time you make an eligible purchase, our partners return a portion of that money back to you. Those earnings accumulate in your Upromise account until you decide to use it to invest in a 529 plan, help pay down eligible student loans or assist with college expenses—all tax-free!" Here's a link that explains how this works. From now until 1/31/09, for each friend that activates a Upromise account, both you and that friend will receive a $10 Restaurant.com gift certificate. So if you are interested, let me know and I'll send you a referral.

Affiliates – I just learned about affiliate links. These are those links that are on blogs that advertise or that you can print coupons through. Each time you click on one of those ad or sidebars, you help support that blog. If you have a blog and are interested in these, let me know and I can direct you to where I found my information. I haven’t made any money on these, nor do I expect to. I don’t want my blog to be about me making money, but about me being able to help others save theirs.

Making Money (or Saving) on your Prescriptions

MoneySavingMethods has a great post about making or saving money on your prescriptions.

I have gotten quite a few gift cards this way also. I did this a couple of weeks ago at Rite Aid - paid $4 for the prescription, they scanned the $30 coupon (for transferring my prescription), then I got a $30 gift card to Rite Aid. I "made" $26!!! I love it when stores pay me to shop!!!

Great Sites for Buying, Selling or Getting Things for Free

Thought I'd start some posts about some other ways that I save money and try to make a little on the side. I'll start with some great sites to buy, sell or get things for free.

Craigslist – Craigslist is free classifieds. You can sell or buy on it for FREE!! No service fees, purchasing fees, listing fees, shipping charges, etc (you get the idea). It’s broken down by where you live, so you buy and sell locally. I use this a lot more than I use eBay (and I used to be an eBay fanatic).

Freecycle – Freecycle is a great way to get and give away free stuff. You can sign up for individual emails or a daily digest of things that people are giving away. You can also post things that you are looking for. This is how we got our purebred chocolate lab last month. I’ve also gotten furniture, coupons, and many other random things. Remember that your junk is another's treasure. (If you've ever had a yard sale, then you know that this is SO true...)

Etsy – Etsy is a place to buy and sell home-made goods. I have quite a few friends who sell things here. It’s fun to search through the site and a great way to support many stay-at-home moms!

SAVE YOURSELF Account - Make $100 on your savings

Ameritrade is teaming up with Suze Orman to offer a SAVE YOURSELF account. Just open a non-retirement Ameritrade account and make 12 consecutive monthly deposits of $100 or more, and you'll get $100! Click here for details.

This is a Money Market Deposit Account that is FDIC insured and earns 1% APY.

I signed up for this last night and then arranged for a once a month automatic withdrawal from our bank savings account for $100. I figure it's going from one savings account to another to make more interest and earn us $100 extra!

Ebates - Great Way to Get Money Back on Purchases

Ebates is a way to get cash back on your online purchases. I try to use it every time I shop online and have earned quite a bit of money back. You can get it in the form of a check or deposited to your PayPal account - they send your money 4 times per year. It's a great way to get some money back on purchases that you'll make anyway. And the stores they represent are everyday stores (here's a list of them).

Sign up through this link.

From Ebates website:
Why use Ebates?

Shop through Ebates, and earn up to 25% Cash Back at your favorite stores. How? Simple. Our merchants pay us to send you to them. We turn those commissions into Cash Back by giving the commission right back to you, in Cash. No forms to fill out, no strings attached. Check out our full store list here.

Why else should I use Ebates?

Incredible deals don't end with Cash Back. We hunt down cut-rate coupons and exclusive offers. Unlike any other savings site on the internet, you can layer the deals. Save big by using coupons and getting Cash Back at the same time! With deal layering, you really stack up the savings.
